Due to expansion within the sales team we are looking to recruit a membership sales executive to cover Oxfordshire.

Job Title: Membership Sales Executive - Oxfordshire

Department: Commercial Development

Reports to: Head of Commercial Development

Job Summary: Reporting to the Head of Commercial Development for the effective income generation of Essential and Corporate chamber membership (and associated commercial services) from companies within a defined area. The Membership Sales Executive is responsible for nurturing relationships and loyalty with companies to increase Chamber membership. Responsible for undertaking sales activity to grow Chamber membership in line with set targets and assisting with marketing activity as required.

Principle Objectives:

  1. To undertake sales activity, particularly field sales (and telemarketing as required), to increase Chamber membership
  2. To prospect potential members and generate sales appointments and to respond to centrally generated sales leads
  3. To assist in the business development and expansion of other commercial services
  4. To maintain a professional, friendly and efficient contact with prospective members and provide accurate information and advice to encourage membership of the Chamber
  5. To back up other members of the Commercial Development team in terms of general sales and marketing activity

Principal Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for writing and executing a membership sales plan
  2. To take responsibility for all initial communication with prospective Chamber members in a professional, friendly and efficient manner
  3. To proactively generate sales appointments to ensure a full diary of sales activity
  4. To undertake field sales activity within a defined area
  5. To assist with/undertake telemarketing as required
  6. To convert prospects into paid up Chamber members
  7. To actively assist in commercial development of Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce
  8. To meet sales targets in accordance with monthly sales plans
  9. To undertake marketing activity as required
  10. To deal effectively with new membership enquiries and to give appropriate advice and guidance as necessary to encourage Chamber membership
  11. To attend Chamber member events as required to convert prospects into members
  12. To represent the Chamber at exhibitions and other external events as required
  13. To provide verbal and written feedback regarding sales activity and achievements
  14. To provide feedback from companies regarding business trends and demands
  15. To undertake any other duties as required

Person Specification - Essential:

  1. A minimum of 3 years, B2B field sales experience selling to senior decision makers (managers/directors)
  2. Field sales experience
  3. Experience of working to and achieving sales targets
  4. Proactive, can-do approach
  5. IT literate
  6. Excellent interpersonal skills
  7. Good, confident telephone manner
  8. Well presented
  9. Positive team player
  10. Enthusiastic, motivated and results driven
  11. Able to work under own initiative
  12. Flexible, able to cope in a busy environment
  13. Business experience
  14. Full UK driving licence

Person Specification - Desirable:

  1. Experience of working with call centres and appointment generation agencies
  2. Experience of membership organisations
  3. Experience of cold calling and telephone based sales
