Senior Accountant

Salary: £24,000 to £35,000

Chartered Accountant in the South Birmingham area is looking for an experienced Accounts Senior to join their growing team. The company requires someone who can manage an array of clients and control the process in it's entirety, up to the financial year end of each individual account.

The suitable candidate will have previous practice experience with the ability to effectively manage various accounts at one time including preparation and drafting through to finalisation and actively contribute to the success of the business and retention of long-standing clientele.

The role requires an individual who is proactive, computer literate and loyal to both employer and client. Benefits for the right individual include internal training, qualification training and study support and exposure to a varied and accomplished accounting firm.

Hours: Full-time permanent position 37 hours (9 AM - 5:30 PM)


Accounts preparation, including complete drafting
Verify, allocate and reconcile both accounts payable and accounts receivable
Working to close deadlines in accordance with month and year end of client base
Managing a vast portfolio of clients from a variety of industries and sectors
Produce accurate accounting reports
Adhering to self-assessment tax return deadlines
Assisting in audit, tax and forensic enquiries
Ensuring confidentiality and discretion is adhered to at all times
Use of both internal systems, SAGE Line 50 and Microsoft Excel on daily basis
Working closely with another Senior Accountant with support from two Junior Accounts Assistants


As a Senior Accountant, you will have previous practice experience, a minimum of three years being essential for this role. You will have experience of using in-house computer systems and be able to use Sage Line 50 and Microsoft Excel on a daily basis in support of your daily tasks. Previous financial qualifications would be highly beneficial, including AAT, ACCA, ACA and CIMA, however, they are not essential. Practical experience within the practice is crucial for the ideal candidate to be successful.

Previous knowledge/experience in the following roles would be considered applicable; Senior Accountant, Financial Controller, Junior Accountant, Accountant, Chief Accountant, Auditor, Chief Financial Officer
