Job Summary:

The Supply Chain Planner (SCP) is required to take ownership of all operational aspects of inventory portfolio management & forecasting, as well as driving the supply & demand planning process. By using analytical and quantitative methods to understand, predict and enhance supply chain processes, the SCP is responsible for utilizing and converting relevant data, analyzing performance, identifying problems, and developing recommendations which support and enhance supply chain planning. The SCP will need to present this information in a format suitable to both influence and advise across all levels of the business

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Inventory Management:

  • Monitor stock availability in the warehouse & processing units (CPUs) and achieve inventory levels in line with safety stock targets
  • Pro-actively manage items through their life-cycle, ensuring stock of new items is available in good time for product launches, minimise 'off-cycle’ stock, remove de-listed, QC, damaged or returned stock in timely manner according to the correct process.
  • Review and resolve any Purchase Order and Transfer Orders exceptions on a daily basis
  • Report potential supply risks and shortages as required
  • Utilise all data available (airline data, system/ERP data, and management/supplier data), as well as incorporating business intelligence, to create & validate forecast information as well as investigating any perceived anomalies
  • Analyse data alongside new demand drivers, and business intelligence to help anticipate the future impact of change
  • Present detailed analysis of forecast versus actual sales variances, as well as a comparison to previous months and versions.
  • Create and maintain forecast accuracy measurements and provide comprehensive information via a series of reports highlighting elements such as inventory value, variance to targets issued, league of accuracy per supplier/airline etc.. to senior management
  • Responsible for formulating, improving and distributing a series of reports for senior management as per the requirements of the business, delivered on time and to prescribed quality standards
  • Be responsible for daily Out of Stock/’Shortages’ report ensuring they have correct audit codes, full description of reason for out of stock, with advisory actions. Ensuring they are sent on time to the relevant Supply Chain Executive.
  • Be responsive to any issues in relation to data quality & maintenance, troubleshoot any errors where necessary
  • Develop a detailed understanding of how to modify, expand and improve current processes through Continuous Improvement methods, sharing of best practices, cross functional learning and knowledge sharing

Supplier Management:

  • Monitor and track supplier delivery performance, chasing late deliveries, seek swift resolution on shortages, liaise with the warehouse to ensure that supplier deliveries are booked in on time.
  • Work with Suppliers to identify and resolve supplier issues and build supplier performance metrics
  • Safeguard all re-boxing and packing is completed on time at CPU or warehouse

Cost Management and Reporting:

  • Plan and arrange cost effective transfers between warehouses
  • Organise lowest possible inbound cost for collections
  • Organise direct deliveries or request couriers where needed, to ensure customer service levels are maintained
  • Responsible for formulating, improving and distributing a series of reports for senior management as per the requirements of the business, delivered on time and to prescribed quality standards.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that master data in ERP (ROSS) is accurate
  • Maintain forecasting parameters in Demand and Supply Planning software (DSP) and/or any other forecasting tools
  • Document and implement best practice, following Standard Operating Procedures
  • Cover other Planning functions as required
  • Communicate and escalate risks/issues to Line Manager



  • Graduate level education in business or supply chain related degree

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years work experience in supply chain in an FMCG environment essential, Forecasting and Demand Planning desirable
  • Experience in conducting relevant root cause analysis

Technical Skills: (Certification, Licenses and Registration)

  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications, advanced Excel desirable
  • Knowledge of ERP systems
