Trainee Law Costs Drafter (GR62/BRS/HXD/8)

We are looking for an individual to join our specialist in-house legal costs division in Bristol as a Trainee Law Costs Drafter.
The costs division deals with all aspects of costs disputes including; preparation of bills of costs, schedules of costs, negotiating settlements, and dealing with points of dispute amongst others aspects. The role of Trainee Law Costs Drafter is to support the department with drafting, negotiating and resolving costs disputes. .
This entry level role would suit an individual with ambitions to commence their career in the legal world, ideally in the area of Costs Litigation.
Responsibilities include drafting bills of costs, estimates, client insurer statements, Costs Budgets and dealing with negotiations. Other duties may include dealing with adverse costs and audits. The successful candidate will manage their own case load of costing files dealing with the case from inception through to settlement and or litigation/assessment.
The successful candidate will be someone looking to succeed and build a legal career in costs. It may assist, but it is certainly not essential that you are a graduate and have legal qualifications and/or relevant legal experience. Dedicated 'costs’ training will be provided however strong numerical skills are required, with a 'Grade C’ in Maths GCSE (or equivalent) as minimum. Excellent communication and negotiation skills are necessary as is a common sense approach to legal work. Accuracy, an eye for detail and a demonstrable interest in developing a career in the arena of 'legal costs’ are essential.
