If you are a Special, Primary or Secondary School Leader ready for an Executive Headship role in London, the Hawkswood Group would like to talk to you. Over a highly successful period our retiring executive headteacher has transformed an under-performing LA service to a federation of outstanding and good Pupil Referral Units and Alternative Provisions.
Today we have a contemporary, confident organisation which is offering very high quality services to its clients: the pupils and their parents/carers; the schools and their communities and the borough. Our schools and provisions are all outstanding or good and are ambitious to improve further. We employ 85 people and have an overall operating budget of £4.2 m. Staff retention is high and we are growing many of our own leaders for the future.
We have a clearly defined and integrated organisation under one structure. Management responsibilities and accountabilities are explicit. Staff morale is high, Value for money is excellent and our business processes are robust and effective. We have a substantial traded services element to our income generation and a brand new school building for 2 PRUs just completed on one of our sites.
The Hawkswood group is recognized by the DfE for excellence in specific areas of work and the group is consulted regularly by them to contribute to national policy development.
At a local level, in the London Borough of Waltham Forest, Hawkswood is regarded a linchpin of community education.
The new Head will have the opportunity to make a real difference for some of our boroughs most vulnerable and challenging children and to work with partners and other heads to shape the boroughs long-term vision and strategy.
In particular, we are looking for a visionary and compelling leader to sustain what has already been achieved but also set the strategic direction for the Hawkswood Group in collaboration with the Management Committee at a time of significant national and local challenges to schools.
For an initial, confidential phone conversation, which we hope will lead to a visit, please contact David Robinson at (david.robinson[at] or ).
A visit will include the chance to meet governors and the outgoing head and to have additional time exploring the areas candidates have the least experience of.
