A leading firm of Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers, are looking for an experienced Bookkeeper/Management Accountant to join their successful team based in Cambridge.

They undertake a variety of accounting tasks and assignments on clients’ premises. The assignment at any one client’s premises could range from a regular 'one day a week’ arrangement, to dedicated weeks at a time, depending upon the project in hand.


  • To undertake a range of Bookkeeping tasks and assignments
  • To reconcile and to resolve any issues regarding both the client and the Business Team
  • To control the assignment and record the time spent on tasks accurately and in accordance with the client time recording system
  • To regularly keep in touch with the office and report on progress
  • To keep skills up to date and learn new skills as the client work demands
  • To undertake computerised and manual Bookkeeping - including;
  • Accounts file setup
  • Income review and reconciliation
  • Purchase ledger review and reconciliation
  • Nominal ledger review and reconciliation
  • Bank reconciliation
  • Overall expenditure review
  • Extended trial balance preparation
  • Drafting basic accounts from existing trial balances
  • Resolving queries by liaison with clients
  • Arranging audit of files prepared and liaising with external auditors as necessary


    • AAT or equivalent qualification with a minimum of 2/3 years supporting experience, preferably within a practice environment
    • Previous proven skills and experience in computerised and manual accounts processing and reconciliation to trial balance
    • Must have up to date Sage 50 experience
    • Preferably experience of cloud based software packages
    • Confident, articulate and able to communicate with all levels (externally and internally)
    • A team player liaising with all departments within the firm
    • Good at building effective relationships with colleagues, Partners and clients
    • Highly organised and used to juggling heavy workloads and competing priorities

    Salary Package

    • Salary: £25,000 - £40,000 (dependent on experience) + Benefits
    • Working hours: Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:30
    • 25 days’ holiday plus Bank Holidays (ability to purchase up to 5 extra days under flexible benefits scheme)
