Our client, an established general insurance company has a vacancy for an experienced Underwriter to form a key part of the Corporate Team in Leeds. The successful candidate will have responsibility for growth of the Portfolio with key brokers and clients, whilst maintaining and developing a portfolio of existing accounts including key facility business. An important part of this role is the performance, monitoring and review of compliance/underwriting discipline of facility business. Will be responsible for underwriting new business or renewals according to defined underwriting guidelines, specified budget and local business plan.
Will assist in formulating underwriting strategy, forecasts and portfolio management in order to achieve underwriting profitability. Ensure quality control within defined area of responsibility by undertaking quantitative underwriting reviews, running regular meetings and peer reviews. To assist in the development of products within area of specialist expertise in order to improve client retention and new business. This may involve collaborating with peers within and across business lines in Europe as well as globally.
Will represent and promote the company corporately to brokers, internal and external clients. This may involve servicing key producers and clients, monitoring business acquisition and retention as well as maximising cross-selling opportunities. Meeting company standards in respect of policy documentation, timeframe for quoting new and renewal business and compliance issues. To represent and promote the company and maintain a permanent contact with internal colleagues and clients as well as major clients. Performing company requirements for the monitoring of facility business and the annual review process of performance, wordings, audits and associated tasks.
The prospective applicant must hold relevant market experience and will continue to develop technical and broader business skills. Will have a comprehensive understanding and working knowledge of the insurance market and competitors. Solid experience of dealing with brokers and clients. Results driven with the ability to make own decisions and work on own initiative. An experienced professional who is recognised externally.
ACII preferred though not essential. Educated to A Level standard or higher.
