Financial Analyst

Boston Hale are partnering with a Top 20 Global Law Firm in their search for a Financial Analyst. This is a business partnering role positioned in finance but liaising daily with senior partners across a wide variety of practice groups.

Key Stakeholders: Global Finance Director, International Group Heads, London National Practice Group Heads and International Finance Managers.

The role reports up to the Financial Analysis Manager and consists of 4 main areas:

Role Description:

Financial Performance Analysis:

  • Producing analysis to help maximise profitability across the London Groups
  • Focusing on realisation, fee earner utilisation, working capital, costs reviews and analysis
  • Monitoring performance against long-term strategic and short-term operational plans
  • Presenting information to assist the business groups and contributing to on-going reviews

Business Planning & Budgeting:

  • Assist partners to develop strategic plans and operational budgets for business groups
  • Producing financial projections and ensuring planning activities are completed
  • Liaising with Finance, HR and Marketing teams

Business Case Proposals:

  • Assist partners in preparing business cases to be used to support election of new partners
  • Providing information to allow independent post-event review of actual returns
  • Prepare financial models and accompanying documentation for ad-hoc projects

Operational Support:

  • Co-ordinating the provision of analysis, explanation and support to partners
  • Assisting with analysis on profitability and compliance with time recording policies
  • Collaborating with IT to generate new reporting
  • Assisting with product initiatives, client performance and profitability reviews
  • Supporting the development of the business group and promoting business awareness

Required Skills:

  • Qualified Accountant, ideally ACA from Big 4
  • Previous management accounting, budgeting, planning and financial modelling experience
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Professional services experience an advantage
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge
