The School:

An 'Outstanding' school I work with in the Hackney area is seeking a new SEN Leader / SENco. The school caters for students that have complex and inter-related special educations needs to the extent that their ability to learn, thrive and develop in a secondary mainstream setting is significantly affected. The vast majority of the school's students arrive on secondary transfer from mainstream primary schools. The school caters for SLCN/MLD, SLCN/SLD and ASD/SLD pupils.

The school currently has places for over 110 pupils. Each year group is organised into two classes of 10 pupils providing 20 places in each year group. Each class of 10 pupils is taught by a teacher and teaching assistant with additional adults sometimes working alongside the teacher and teaching assistant, for example, speech and language therapists or specialist sports coaches.

The school consistently places in the top 5% but places emphasis on always improving through organising the curriculum more effectively and ensuring students gain better accreditation's. The school follows an ASDAN course and the majority of those studying go on to progress to mainstream colleges.

Candidate:

Essentially, the successful candidate will ensure that students achieve as highly as possible in order to progress to further study or employment. The candidate will lead the school's continuing progress in improving the way students' individual special educational needs are met. The candidate will have to lead and evaluate the impact of the school multi-disciplinary team, its intervention strategies, and universal and targeted provision.

Applications are invited from those aspiring to senior leadership positions who are passionate about the differences schools can make to young people's ability to learn, create, express themselves and become active global citizens. The candidate will have a fantastic track record, be committed to making a difference and getting things done, as well as be highly knowledgeable about SEN.

The Role Offers:

  • Top 5% of schools nationally
  • Fantastic staff
  • Opportunity to shape the post in their own image
  • Brand new 3 storey building!
  • Opportunity to shape future of the school
  • Competitive Salary - inner London scale (progressing to the top of the Upper pay range) plus SEN point 1 or 2 (depending on experience) plus a TLR of around 5k

Please send your CV to the SEND Team at REESON Education ASAP if you're interested in applying!
