KS2 CLASS TEACHER - September 2017

Our client a small independent school in North London are looking to recruit for Year 3 teacher in September. This role will either suit an experienced teacher or a Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT)

As a member of the founding team of teachers the duties and responsibilities of the KS2 Class teacher are extensive. The role includes that of classteacher and administrator of the KS2 curriculum. The post holder will be line managed by the Head.

Role & Responsibilities

  • To provide and deliver a broad, balanced and stimulating curriculum to our youngest pupils embracing both the KS2 curriculum and the ethos of the school
  • To be familiar with the requirements of KS2 and to comply with national guidelines
  • To prepare well and deliver appropriate lessons and activities to meet the educational needs of pupils in accordance with the school’s aims and policies
  • To organise an attractive, well resourced class room in which pupils can be stimulated and challenged and which nurtures learning
  • To oversee the assessment, reporting and recording of pupils’ work ensuring that their progress and development is consistent and each child fulfils her potential
  • To set and achieve the highest standards of attainment possible for each child and the group as a whole
  • To identify pupils who have special educational needs and give positive and targeted support
  • To work closely with and direct a teaching assistant and other support staff
  • To act at all times in the best interests of pupils and promote their well-being and ensure good behaviour
  • To organise and contribute to whole school assemblies which provide a focus for the spiritual and moral life of the school community
  • To report to parents regularly on their child’s progress and to keep them appropriately informed about the curriculum.
  • To arrange and record meetings with parents about issues of concern and to ensure colleagues are aware of these matters and respond professionally, sensitively and appropriately
  • To organise educational visits and extra curricular activities
  • To cover for absent colleagues as required
  • To carry out supervisory duties as required
  • To attend and contribute to regular meetings and with the Headteacher formulate and implement the school’s strategic plans
  • To write and contribute to whole school policies
  • To implement, review and update the School Development Plan annually with colleagues
  • To take an active part in local training for KS1 and avail yourself of CPD opportunities
  • To take part in the annual appraisal programme
  • To participate and assist in school functions which enhance the community life of the school
  • To play a key role in marketing the school as required
  • To contribute fully to the life of the school and work for the good of the community

Person Specification: KS2 Teacher

The successful candidate will possess the following experience, qualifications and qualities.

a) Energy, tenacity and commitment to the post and the ability to work in harmony with colleagues;

b) A genuine interest in and enthusiasm for working with children;

c) An understanding of and sympathy with the school’s strong Catholic ethos;

d) Experience teaching pupils in KS2

e) A university degree and/or recognised teaching qualification;

f) Excellent IT and organisational skills and the ability to use IT as a resource for teaching and administration;

g) A commitment to the extra-curricular life of the school;

h) A good sense of humour and a relish for challenges.
