My client in Guildford have a fantastic opportunity to join them as an Employability Assistant, this is a permanent part time role. You will be responsible for working as a member of the university's employability service to provide support to students and assist the service in all areas.  

Up to 21 hours a week spread across 4 days, however they are flexible. 

You will be offered an excellent package of:

Specific Responsibilities:

Client Service
• Communicating and dealing effectively with a wide range enquiries
• Responsibility for all administrative work relating to pro bono and careers activities e.g. creation and maintenance of client files; keeping records of student attendance; managing the appointments system; introducing and maintaining scheme rotas to ensure that both student and external organisations’ needs are met; distribution and collation of student and agency questionnaires
• Maintaining and promoting University systems, databases. Ensuring data is accurately entered, statistics maintained for the service, extracting data and producing reports, and ensuring that deadlines are met
• Maintaining materials, publications and other resources within the Employability library
• Co-ordinating and administering activities and assisting in providing centre support e.g. planning visits, assisting students with their preparation and presentations etc.
• Assisting with setting up and administering various events e.g. preparing information packs, booking facilities, arranging refreshments etc. Attending events when required, which may be held during the evening or at weekends
Achieving Results
• Providing an excellent standard of customer service in all aspects of the role
• Ensuring delivery of a high quality service to students and stakeholders
• Working closely the wider national Employability Service, to ensure a high level of performance

• Promoting and sustaining a constructive, supportive and friendly working relationship with all customers, external and internal, colleagues, and immediate and senior management
• Supporting centre staff in a positive and helpful way

• Actively taking responsibility for your own personal career development in all respects
• Through active networking and researching, developing an awareness and knowledge of the legal profession and graduate recruitment activities
• Attending and actively participating in training for both Employability and for your own personal development

Experience and skills: 


Previous experience in either Careers or Pro Bono

Previous experience in a legal or educational background


Previous experience of office administration

Previous experience working in a client/ customer facing role

Excellent IT skills including MS Office applications (especially Excel)

Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy

Excellent communication skills – telephone, face to face, and email

Good time management skills and ability to multi task
