Your new company are a leading UK high precision manufacturer looking to recruit a new Purchasing Manager.  With a 50 year heritage this leading company have received several awards in recent years, including Sussex Business Awards and Fastrack 100.

Your new role as Purchasing Manager will manage an existing team and will hold management responsibility for all aspects of procurement and you will take an active role to deliver continuous improvement/change management within your own team and where you see opportunities across the wider business.

Your primary responsibilities will be manage the Purchase Order process to ensure all goods and services are raised following established procedures in an efficient and timely manner.

You will own responsibility for managing price negotiations with both existing and new suppliers and will take a pro-active role in reviewing existing supplier arrangements to leverage greater commercial & pricing opportunities.

You will review and set up where necessary new supplier KPI's and manage performance through established supplier relationship metrics to ensure a quality and on-time supplier service (OTD / Quality).

Your new role will identify and implement strategic sub-contract and new production introduction activities / initiatives.

You will also own reporting activities for material & services spend and will pro-actively seek opportunities for better purchasing initiatives through an analytical and fact-based approach.

To be successful in this role you will be an experienced purchasing professional who clearly demonstrates the ability to work on your own initiative to plan company targets and will have a mind-set for discovering opportunities for continuous improvement.

Key to this position is the ability to effectively & efficiently manage an existing purchasing department and to identify and introduce new and improved purchasing processes and train both your team and the wider business in new processes.  To be successful in this role you will clearly demonstrate a Continuous Improvement or Change Management approach by previous experience. 

You will display influential characteristics that will allow you to gain engagement with business directives to drive your initiatives forwards.  With a wider business acumen you will also possess the soft skills necessary to influence other heads of departments to engage in new ways of working without having direct management over them.

Ideal to this role will be an experienced purchasing manager / procurement manager from a manufacturing or engineering business, however strong strategic influencers from other sectors who have continuous improvement experience and purchasing management experience may also be considered.
