Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Southampton
Exceptional Local House Builder

The Opportunity
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work within an exceptional local house builder who for the past 10 years the have been building superior homes in beautiful locations across Hampshire. They are looking for someone who can operate as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their busy commercial team.

As part of their expansion plans, a position has become available at their Head Office in Southampton. You will be reporting directly to the Quantity Surveyor who will work with you to develop your knowledge and experience within construction sector, on a variety of sites within the local area.

The Role
An Assistant Quantity Surveyor would be able to manage a small portfolio on their own, whilst working towards taking control of the full start to end process (which will include but not be limited to):
Review drawings passed over by the estimating team once the contract has been awarded, to familiarize themselves with the site.
Review drawing revisions issued during the duration of the contract.
Arrange pre-start meeting on the commercial aspects; liaise with the production team, buying department, health and safety department and engineers
Management of all sub-contractors and their payments, inclusive of re-measures, account meetings and site orders.
Set-up valuation templates and CVRs (using Microsoft excel)
Liaise with site supervisor / contracts manager on daily basis to quote for ongoing works.
To contribute towards the development of new systems which affect positive change to the commercial teams reporting and commercial control of the delivery stream and individual schemes
Manage workload to meet strict work deadlines and ensure valuations are sent out on time, according to clients submission dates
To maintain accurate records, assist in controlling report variances against the comapnys agreed performance/compliance/Finance targets
To chase cash / payment with the client, once valuations are submitted. The ability to develop and maintain key relationships will enable success is managing the outstanding monies.
Interaction with the accounts department to manage costs and month spend; enabling resolution of any issues.
To ensure the integrity of Tithe groves commercial reputation is maintained at the highest level.

Desirable Criteria
You will have at least a basic level knowledge of the house building process
Degree/HND/HNC in Quantity Surveying or a Construction related subject.
Experience working for a developer or contractor.
Ideally a member or looking to become a member of a professional institution (RICS or MCIOB)
