Lead Worker Foundation Years & Play - 16 hours per week - Fixed Term Contract

Your new company
You will be working for Southampton City Council in their Children and Families Sure Start division.

Your new role
You will be based at Sure Start Central, but will be travelling across a large locality covering areas such as Woolston, Weston, Thornhill, Sholing, Townhill Park, Bitterne and Harefield. You will be taking on a leadership role, managing a small team of Play Workers in an Early Years playroom setting, delivering creches and open access play sessions. You will be providing a stimulating and varied programme of play activities for children (0-5) and parents/carers sessions that support the delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage, and you will be working in partnership with parents/carers, keeping them fully informed and maintaining records. You will maintain a first aid qualification, and be aware of health and safety, maintaining health and safety records and monitoring risk assessments. You will be expected to be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of Children and Young People.

What you'll need to succeed
You will have a level 3 qualification in Early Years and will have practical experience of delivering early learning through play to young children and working with families, whilst using your knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage in developing services for young children and their families. You will need to form and sustain supportive relationships with children, families and colleagues and use creative and innovative ideas. You will have some experience of maintaining records and observations and will have knowledge of health and safety requirements when working with children under five years and families and you will be able to work well as part of a team. You will need a working knowledge, understanding and commitment to a child-centred delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage. When appointed, you will also be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
