The Role

Our client is an established Financial Planning business with offices in North Bristol. This role is to support the Financial Advisers with high quality report writing and research.

Your Skills and Knowledge

  • An excellent communicator, you’ll have good inter-personal skills both written and verbally
  • Recent hands on report writing experience
  • Analytical with a sharp attention to detail
  • Well organised with excellent time management
  • Strong IT details, competent with Microsoft products including Word, Excel and Outlook


  • A good working knowledge of the FCA, its rules and regulation
  • Broad understanding of the financial services sector
  • A high level of technical knowledge across Pensions and Investments
  • Hold the Diploma in Financial Planning or have made significant progress towards reaching this


  • Stay up-to-date with new products, technical and legislative changes within the marketplace
  • Comply with the firm’s Compliance; Training & Competence; Complaints and Data Security policies / procedures
  • To ensure that the firm’s clients are treated fairly
  • To work as part of a team alongside the Financial Advisers and administrators to provide clients with a professional, first class ongoing Financial Planning experience

Specific duties

  • Preparation and maintenance of client files
  • Ensure reports are written in a timely and efficient manner
  • Check all paperwork / information is available to ensure that the client file meets the FCA’s rules and requirements
  • Discuss the client’s needs and objectives with the relevant adviser (where required)
  • To prepare recommendations
  • Undertake research to identify suitable solutions to meet the client’s needs and objectives
  • Where applicable, prepare information for analysis by the adviser
  • Prepare draft recommendation reports
  • Discuss draft recommendation report with the Financial Adviser
  • Obtain 'sign-off’ by the relevant adviser
  • Implement recommendations
  • Preparation of suitability reports in accordance with the agreed recommendations
  • Complete application / proposal forms
  • Ensure all compliance paperwork is in order
  • Implement the chosen / agreed investment strategies
  • Undertake client reviews
  • Act as main point of contact and deal effectively with queries from clients and other parties
  • Establish and build strong relationships with clients
  • Where required, attend client meetings with the Financial Adviser
  • Organise future planning meetings with clients, in accordance with agree timescales
  • Review investment portfolios, asset allocation, risk profiles
