As a senior member of a growing purchasing department in a construction and manufacturing environment, the role will involve supporting the Supply Chain Manager to identify, source, schedule, order, and expedite a wide range of materials and products to feed both the production line at the factory and site teams on a range of projects.
Expected to have sufficient experience to be confident in dealing assertively with suppliers, and to instinctively prioritise their work load to allow for the proactive chasing of orders.
§ Raising inventory and project specific material orders.
§ Assist in identifying material requirements within a project from specifications dictated by the project manager/client.
§ Liaise with the design department and Project Managers to ensure accurate information is provided for orders to be raised.
§ Assist in identifying and developing new supply chain partners where necessary/beneficial.
§ Help in ensuring accurate financial control over project specific procurement through liaison with Commercial department.
§ Liaise with Production Manager to ensure all materials are available in line with the production schedule by adopting a pro-active approach to expediting.
§ Log and action site material requests, ensuring information provided by site teams is accurate and unambiguous.
§ Raising and monitoring some factory based subcontract orders.
§ Raising NCR’s when required, monitoring their status through to completion, as well as providing input where necessary.
§ General housekeeping and maintenance of the Purchasing filing systems.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
§ A strong background in the development of procurement Schedules and BOM’s
§ Procurement experience in a construction and/or manufacturing environment is essential
§ Ability to read and understand basic general arrangement drawings.
§ Analytically/logically minded
§ Commercial awareness with keen eye for numeracy.
§ Excellent competency in Excel, Word and Outlook essential.
§ A good organiser with the ability to communicate deadlines clearly.
This may be on a contract or permanent basis. Please note that QS experience is an essential part of this role.
