A specialist services business based in South Liverpool is looking for an experienced Assistant Accountant to join their team in what can only be described as a considerably meaty and varied role. The company is privately owned with backing from a private equity firm.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Producing full profit and loss accounts up to trial balance
  • Producing individual profit and loss accounts for each site and division
  • Reconciling balance sheet and processing accruals and prepayments
  • Controlling and implementation of month-end reporting timelines
  • Preparing and processing payroll journals
  • Preparing and posting commissions
  • Calculating stock
  • Reviewing profit and loss account with budget holders and Head Office
  • Preparing monthly audit files in line with group controls
  • Preparing month-end accounts pack for submission to Head Office
  • Maintaining fixed asset register and preparing capital expenditure request forms
  • Preparing and distributing weekly sales reports

Skills and Experience Required:

  • An experienced Assistant Accountant competent with management accounts and the month-end process
  • Ideally studying towards a professional qualification such as CIMA/ACCA
  • Able to pick things up quickly and take ownership of the role
  • Willing to perform ad-hoc tasks such as calling suppliers/preparing reports for the MD
  • Have good Excel skills including look-ups and pivot tables
