Our client`s 123 bedroom hotel with 18 conference rooms is set in a tranquil part of Leicester and their bar is the perfect place to relax after a day of meetings, conferences or activities. Offering a large range of drinks and extensive bar menu, including a bespoke wine list. They also have the addition of a Garden Lounge which offers comfortable private seating with a beautiful view over the extensive gardens.

Purpose of the Job:

Reporting to the Operations Manager, as Bar Manager you will direct, control and organise all bar related duties. You will also ensure customer requirements are satisfied to ensure an overall smooth running of the section.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure the smooth running of the Bar and liaise with kitchen, restaurant and other departments regarding procedures, service, food service as required etc
  • Assist F&B Manager with large events
  • Carry out ordering of supplies and oversee monthly stock takes
  • Planning rotas, prepared to work evenings to meet the demands of business but shared with casual members and Bar Supervisor
  • Carry out accurate cash-up procedures and responsible for cash in bar safe
  • Maintain and/or implement new efficient and effective work methods and systems.
  • Ensure that all services delivered within the bar operation are being charged for correctly
  • Practise economy and to minimise any incorrect usage of any resources with particular attention given to achieving G.P % and maximising revenue
  • Ensure a pleasant working environment and a warm, friendly atmosphere at all times at the point of sale
  • Motivate, support and lead your team by example and ensure they are fully trained to deliver excellent customer service and take every opportunity to increase sales and minimise costs
  • Handle any customer complaints and provide swift solution
  • As Bar Manager you will attend weekly operation meetings along with other heads of department to co-ordinate resources, planned events etc.
  • Act as designated premises supervisor and follow the Guest Management Plan
  • Understand and implement health and safety procedures including reporting defects, accidents and near misses and attending fire training as requested
  • Protect guest and associate security by never revealing any personal information, room numbers, addresses, telephone numbers, unless authorised to do so
  • Have knowledge of room types and other facilities, guest service within the hotel
  • Prepare and set up the department`s standards and review on a regular basis to guarantee the best possible customer service
  • Be proactive in terms of idea generation to help increase sales and minimise costs to the benefit of the customer and business
  • Produce and maintain SOP`s in order to assist training of bar staff, and maintain excellent operational practice

The Person:

  • Experience in a similar role is essential
  • Knowledge of hotel experience in Food & Beverage or Meetings and Events or Leisure Management in a managerial capacity would be ideal, looking for a change of pace, environment
  • Preferred experience as a Bar Manager for another hotel chain
  • Passionate about beverage & food and delivering excellent hospitality to guests
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Possess a `can do` attitude, flexible, bubbly and professional
  • Take pride in the job you do and committed to delivering high levels of customer service
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Must be excellent at stock control
  • Flexibility to respond to a range of different work situations
  • Must be a car owner due to some late finishes
  • To be trusted and respected by both customer and peers
  • Prepared to work evenings, hours to suit
