Reed Finance Belfast is proud to be working in partnership with an exciting new venture soon to don the Belfast sky line. With an established brand name in a solid and rapidly growing market, our client are seeking to recruit an experienced Financial Controller with strong managerial experience to assume the position on a full time basis.

Based in central Belfast our client is welcoming applications from fully qualified Accountants only and who demonstrate previous experience in a fast paced commercial environment.

Working closely with the Group Asset Manager & the General Manager, the successful candidate will assess, evaluate and ensure the long & short terms financial goals of the business are met. You will provide accurate, timely and relevant financial data with which to manage the business.

Key responsibilities include;

• To be solely responsible for the financial department of the business, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, auditing, payroll, general accounting, and cash management
• To prepare and analyse P&L statements, develop & prepare operating budgets, cashflows and long & short terms P&L forecasts
• Ensure appropriate internal control procedures are applied to properly record all income and authorise all expenditure
• Develop and appraise the purchasing function of the entity including, Inventory controls and F&B margin analysis. Control and analyse costs on an ongoing basis, taking respective action to control negative variances
• To control & manage payroll costs and in conjunction with payroll heads monitor payroll against budget through weekly reporting & forecasting
• Prepare financial analysis as needed on any specific area requested by management or owners
• Ensure statutory regulations are adhered to including VAT returns, PAYE returns and all relevant companies office returns
• Carry out internal audit checks on departments on a regular basis to ensure compliance with accounting objectives
• Manage and supervise all staff in the accounts department (4 direct reports) and ensure appropriate training & supervision of staff
• Advise management concerning insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities
• Liaise with auditors and prepare the annual audit file in preparation for the annual statutory accounts and corporation tax return
• Be a member of the senior management team. Responsible for contributing to the success of the business in all areas with the ability to analyse metrics and organise work teams as necessary to resolve problems and adjust processes for improved efficiency, customer service and profitability

What you need to apply;

All applicants must be a fully qualified and commercially experienced Accountant (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), with a minimum of five years’ experience to include management of a team. You will demonstrate strong commercial awareness with the ability to work effectively in a very busy and thriving sector.

You will offer strong IT/Accountancy package skills with exposure to Sage 200 being advantageous (although this isn’t essential). Experience in the hospitality/leisure industry would be a distinct advantage.
