Reception Manager for 4* Student Accommodation
Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm (Occasional out of hours work as required)
£30,000 - £35,000 depending on experience
My client, a luxury student accommodation and boutique hotel are currently recruiting for a Reception Manager to manage a team of Supervisors with overall responsibility for a team of reception staff, including the setting and maintaining the highest standards across both of the reception desks and to ensure that day to day security and any incidents are dealt with according to their company procedure and with the best interests of guests, staff and visitors.
Key responsibilities shall include but are not limited to;
*Set and maintain the highest possible standards across the two reception desks and ensure that all receptionists carry out their duties efficiently and professionally as well as in a friendly manner suitable to the environment.
*Line manage, support and motivate reception staff following the company's HR procedures and best practice including, personal development, yearly appraisals and ensuring staff have the knowledge and confidence to carry out their duties.
*Responsible for maintaining a fair and accurate 24 hour rota system, including the checking of shift swaps, sickness and annual leave. Ensure attendance forms are correctly completed.
*Monitor and deal with any security or other incidents as per procedures. Providing a safe and welcoming environment. Ensure Senior Duty Managers are appropriately informed - particularly out of normal hours.
*Operational and hands on management of their current booking system as well as door access, CCTV and other software.
*Develop their current booking system in conjunction with other departments.
*Together with the reception supervisors, review, recommend and write new procedures for the reception team to ensure best practice and good service. Ensure all recommendations obtain the approval required.
*Ensure all sub-lets are administered correctly and ensure short-stay arrivals are welcomed, checked in/out and offered a professional front of house service.
*Liaise with internal and external event teams and help to ensure the smooth running of events from a reception view.
*Support and motivate staff and implement a good team spirit covering different shifts and both receptions. Recruit and manage staff in liaison with HR and following company procedures and best practice.
*Provide induction and continuation training to include: customer care, emergency procedures, security, room booking systems, key training, first aid and fire marshal.
*Support, develop and train the Supervisors in their support and monitoring of staff.
*Liaise with suppliers for items such as stationary, uniforms, name badges, training.
*Participate on Health & Safety, Management and other appropriate meetings.
*Liaise with, inform and have good relationships with external stakeholders.
*To undertake other duties as requested.
The successful candidate should have;
*Previous experience of working in a 3 or 4 star hotel reception, student accommodation or corporate environment and for being responsible for the safety and security of a large building.
*Previous experience of training and developing individual staff members.
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
*The ability and willingness to work some unsocial hours.
*A friendly, polite and professional attitude with the ability to communicate with staff at all levels.
