Work Relief Charity Recruitment is delighted to be working with one of the world’s most prolific homeless charities - looking to recruit a Rent & Income Support Worker for their Bedford housing project.

We are recruiting for a Rent and Income Advisor to work with clients within a homeless hostel setting; implementing the rental income policy and supporting clients in managing their money and providing basic welfare advice.

Part Time - 30 hours per week

Permanent

£26,250 per annum pro rata (Circa £13.46 per hour)

Key duties will include:

  • Working with homeless clients on a 1-2-1 basis to support their money management
  • Provide support to customers on money and debt advice
  • Promote financial inclusion through providing welfare and benefit advice
  • Supporting customers in claiming the appropriate welfare benefits and manage their finances
  • Liaise closely with the Housing Benefit department to ensure claims, backdates, overpayments and appeals are processed efficiently.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced support professional with knowledge and understanding of homelessness and supporting clients to achieve independent living with young homeless people and providing structured support to vulnerable client groups.

Ideally you will have experience in support work, housing, homelessness, family support, casework, outreach work or youth work.

The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:

  • Experience of supporting vulnerable people to achieve independent living
  • Experience of providing basic welfare and debt advice
  • A clear understanding of why people become homeless, and the needs and challenges they face
  • Experience of managing clients’ income / rent arrears in a social housing setting
  • Experience of working with external agencies
