The company develops and manufactures the next generation of nicotine inhalation products such as the increasingly popular Vaporising and Electronic Cigarettes. The products that you will be responsible for aim to reduce the public health impact of tobacco.

This position is for an Electronics Development Manager to head up the Hardware Engineering activities across a range of product lines within this industry. You will initially have 2 direct reports and budgetary responsibility for projects up to £3M.

Responsibilities of the Role:

-Lead the electronics aspects of new product development (design & test), as well as fault-finding / improvement / enhancement on existing products
-Lead design & development of electronic modules, support electronic module upgrade, debug, optimization, cost reduction, quality improvement in product lifecycle management.
-Lease with brand and respective teams to understand consumer centric requirements and translate them to technical specs. Translate technical specs into product concepts and electronic designs.
-Design and test the modules or components, to ensure reliable, efficient, and user-friendly products. An excellent understanding of PCB and component costs, and designing for the lowest possible cost of goods. Understanding of connectivity and Bluetooth.
-Able to work with both internal/external cross-functional teams of marketing, Product development, engineering, supply chain, purchasing, quality & external supplier(s) to optimize electronic design and deliver consumer value, with consideration of manufacturability, cost and quality in parallel.
-Experience of managing and sourcing the rapid prototyping of PCB's, either locally or from the far east, especially during the early development phases
-To influence and coordinate cross functional teams including internal and key external partnerships critical in the delivery of programmes and initiatives so as to have most effective use of internal/external resource and expertise.

Skills and Experience Required:
-Strong background in Electronics Engineering and Management of Electronics Design and Development Processes.
-Strong technical capability and knowledge including; circuit design, SPICE, ability to analyse performance across process/voltage/temperature variations, verification/test, best practice design for EMC, ability to optimise PCB stack-up design, knowledge of PCB design, chipset selection and an excellent understanding of battery technologies.
-Ability to influence across the team and communicate in clear and simple terms.
-Strong leadership skills and ability to Manage Projects
