Email Marketing Executive (Publishing)
Permanent: £25,000 per annum
Central London

The Email Marketing Executive for Books Marketing is a pivotal and highly collaborative role that is vital to the efficient running of the dynamic Books Marketing department. The post-holder will have the opportunity to make their mark in the team and become a marketing communications expert, helping to drive sales and cultivate our relationship with our customers, whilst working closely with colleagues across the business.

Responsible for managing the scheduling and creation of innovative, engaging and targeted email campaigns and high quality direct mail and sales support materials for their designated subject areas, the MCE will liaise closely with the Books Marketing Managers to make sure all communications hit the right note.

  • Create and template vibrant and engaging content for innovative email and direct mail campaigns, sales tools and catalogues
  • Brief and launch targeted campaigns to drive sales
  • Get to grips with designated subjects to be able to pick out the best content, style and tone for each campaign
  • Lead on testing in campaigns and boldly try out new ways of doing things
  • Keep on top of the marketing communications schedule for designated subjects
  • Check all content and links are good to go before signing campaigns off
  • Analyse campaign results
  • Manage promotional copy for books included in the monthly new titles email campaign
  • Check, amend and approve monthly and seasonal Advanced Information Sheets for all new products in own subject areas
  • Lead on the creation of own annual subject catalogues in close collaboration with Books Marketing Managers and the Design and Editorial teams, keeping to schedule and budget
  • Manage the creation and promotion of own online subject catalogues
  • Co-ordinate the production of product information packs to support sales calling
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • 1 to 3 years' experience in marketing, communications, advertising, PR, media or a related field
  • An energetic, confident and influential communicator who enjoys working collaboratively
  • A formidable planner, highly skilled in project management, scheduling, managing multiple projects, problem-solving and working under pressure
  • Strong creative flair and an innovative approach to communicating information visually
  • The skill and will to read, analyse and interpret results, concepts, documents, diagrams and trends and proactively share results and ideas
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel.


  • Experience of writing and copy editing marketing materials
  • Experience of proofreading
  • Design experience and experience of working with designers, Adobe InDesign, Dreamweaver and Adobe Pro DC.
