Health and Safety Consultant

£34,000 per year plus £5,000 car allowance

The Role of Health and Safety Consultant

To provide the highest quality Health & Safety consultancy services to our clients. Adhere to all arrangements that are provided to enhance the client experience and deliver service excellence.

To deliver health and safety services to clients in line with the Work Instructions ensuring that the highest standards of client services are maintained.
To act as “Competent Person” on behalf of the company for your client portfolio.
To work in collaboration with the Regional Manager and Diary Manager to ensure clients are serviced and visited in accordance with contractual obligations and that cost to serve is minimised without compromising the quality of service.
To ensure all client matters are progressed smoothly and respond to telephone and email queries within designated response times.
To work effectively with the H&S Admin team in completing visits due and outstanding in order to meet contractual objectives.
To submit all necessary information to Admin allowing the production of client documents within the required KPI time frames.
To work as “Client Champions” and be responsible for the service element of H&S clients and their retention.
To act as Lead Consultant on designated client accounts ensuring service delivery and documentation is consistent with all other colleagues involved in the account.
To ensure the ongoing development and improvement of Health & Safety service in collaboration and support of the Regional Manager.
To generate and communicate ideas for improvement in our service to clients to the Regional Manager.
Identify and deliver organic growth opportunities during the life time of a client through up sell/cross sell programmes in line with the in life contact plans and following the creation of H&S action plans.
To support the sales team as required from time to time in respect of health & safety sales issues and undertake visits to prospects as requested.
To promote additional services and training provided by the client and submit leads as appropriate for the CARMs team to progress.
To work towards and/or maintain Chartered member status with IOSH or at a similar level with another recognised professional body as agreed by the DHS.

To support colleagues new to the company and giving guidance where required.

To utilise all IT systems and software including iPad applications and Maximiser ensuring that information is recorded in adherence to Departmental procedures.

To meet all individual objectives including service delivery, client retention and additional sales as identified in your annual appraisal.

To ensure that all agreed individual KPI’s and objectives relating to company cornerstones as detailed in the annual appraisal are met.

To maintain all personal development plans and evidence portfolios to ensure continued membership of relevant bodies.

Key Skills

Evidence of working as a health and safety adviser either as a consultant or as an employed adviser across a wide range of industries or in an enforcement capacity.
Can demonstrate a significant contribution to improving health and safety performance.
Extensive knowledge of health and safety legislation and its application to business and industry.
Excellent communication skills. Clear, precise and concise in writing and orally.
Evidence of having delivered training at all levels within organisations.
Capable of working remotely and working to deadlines.
Highly organised and capable of managing own workload.
To be a team player and able to contribute to development of the team.
Capable of demonstrating an ability to achieve service excellence.
Adept in the use of MS Office, in particular Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and the Internet.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a H&S practitioner preferably from a consultancy background.
NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent. Grad IOSH and on a definitive IPD program to achieve CMIOSH status.
Evidence of at least one recognised skill from the skills and application grading criteria.
