Job Summary / Purpose:

ales/Business Development Activities

  • New business generation - make canvass calls and carry out mail shot activity to clients and candidates
  • Serve clients, identify their needs and provide feedback on the success of filling jobs
  • Canvass calls - to seek new business opportunities
  • Client visits - new and service - identify and follow up business leads
  • Meet sales / gross profit targets
  • Deal with speculative calls, aftercare and service calls
  • Negotiate fees and rates in line with company policy and comply with approvals and discounts allowed and issue through Terms of Business
  • Close deals
  • Identify opportunities for business development
  • Conduct market analysis to generate leads and maintain competitive awareness
  • Networking with clients, team and group networked branches
  • Assist the Sales Support Manager with collating information relating to Tender applications
  • Write weekly figures and reports
  • Write and place advertisements through Broadbean
  • Setting personal goals
  • Effective time management

People Management

  • Hold weekly meetings; discuss task delegation and review issues
  • Monitor team performance and activity
  • In conjunction with the Sales Director set 6 monthly targets and objectives
  • Assist in the interview and recruitment/retention of team members
  • In conjunction with the Sales Director performance manage your team members and any issues that need to be dealt with
  • Review on a regular basis the performance of any direct reports, providing guidance on personal development requirements and advice on appropriate action
  • Take responsibility for the team and maintain good relationships and morale
  • Take such action as may be necessary in disciplinary matters in accordance with procedures laid down by company.
  • Act as a role model in all areas and challenge anyone’s behaviour that isn’t in line with the company’s values.
  • Ensure all team members receive the relevant induction/training and development to undertake their jobs effectively
  • Have regular 1-2-1s and achievable objectives that will have new starters in good stead for passing their probation.

Client Management

Serve clients, identify their needs and provide feedback on success of filing jobs

  • Qualify job specification and record accurate and comprehensive job description in line with current legislation and record on Adapt
  • Gather information on clients including name gathering and company mapping
  • Network internally and externally with clients
  • Key Account Management -act as point of contact for client where necessary and agreed
  • Gather information and offer information where needed to Sales Support in completing tenders and client own contracts
  • Sell in other recruitment products - Executive Search / Managed Agency Agreement

Candidate Management

  • Where applicable manage candidates through the full recruitment life cycle from initial screening through to placement and start date
  • Filter out unsuitable candidates through interviewing and screening according to the client’s/consultants requirements and agreed service levels
  • Manage any advertising responses and give feedback to unsuccessful candidates
  • Ensure all candidates are uploaded onto Adapt database and labelled accordingly
  • Match candidates to a range of contract and permanent vacancies
  • Maintain candidate and recruitment data in the relevant databases
  • Qualify candidates prior to sending out their details and cv in line with current legislation
  • Conduct in depth interviews to gather information on suitability and skill
  • Ensure all documentation relating to the candidate registration is complete for example candidate references, permanent candidate agreement, opt out agreement
  • Coach candidates on interview skills
  • Manage contract availability to meet client needs
  • Spec CVs / Market candidates, Search / Shortlist CVs in line with job order request - ensure CVs are of a specific standard and reflective of client requests
  • Provide information and feedback to candidates on clients and job specifications
  • Network with candidates and gain referrals
  • Guide candidates through resigning process

Candidate Attraction

  • Carry out mail shot activities to potential candidates
  • Identify opportunities to promote company
  • Be proactive in marketing activities
  • Design and coordinate targeted advertising campaigns
  • Gain referrals from existing candidates and contacts
  • Headhunting


  • Ensure all work and documentation complies and is in line with internal policies and procedures and contractual working instructions
  • Keep Adapt database up to date with information and correct CVs
  • Produce deal sheets for permanent and contract placements and gain documentation as required
  • Cross sell services of conpany
  • Manage adverts and candidate responses in line with legislation
  • Attend monthly review meeting with Line Manager(1:1)

Relevant skills required for the Team Leader role:

  • Past experience within a recruitment based role
  • Proven experience of working to and achieving sales targets
  • Ability to prioritise workload, focusing on revenue generating tasks in order to bring in annual revenue target.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the relevant team sector
  • Experience in a fast paced target driven environment
  • Good attention to detail
  • Recruitment and interviewing experience
  • Self-motivated
  • Good problem solving skills
  • GCSE level education (degree level education is desirable)
