Are you an experienced Accounts Assistant with excellent bookkeeping skills? Do you enjoy working directly with a variety of clients?

Sheridan Maine Public Practice is currently working with a Top 100 listed firm of accountants based in central Southampton who are offering a permanent Bookkeeper job as a result of company growth.

Operating within the public practice sector, this firm boasts a newly created department that focuses on assisting clients with their day-to-day finances, in addition to the traditional audit, accounts preparation and taxation offering. This department boasts a positive approach with strong client contact and the autonomy to achieve your own goals and aspirations.

The Bookkeeper position will include:

- Preparation of bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients within the firm.
- Preparation of accounts up to reconciled Trial Balance.
- Maintain accurate sales, purchase and nominal ledgers.
- Prepare bank reconciliations on a timely basis.
- Preparation and submission of VAT Returns.
- Working on Xero software and assisting with payroll during peak times.

As a successful applicant you will have prior experience of working within a varied and hands-on bookkeeping position. You will understand manual bookkeeping, including debits and credit and be able to take accounts up to Trial Balance confidently.
