About us: Lu Oliphant Solicitors LLP is a growing legal firm based in Central London with a team of solicitors practising across multiple areas of law including conveyancing, general commercial practice, employment, immigration and general civil litigation. We provide exceptional legal advice and practical legal solutions to clients in the UK, China and internationally.

Job description: We are seeking an entrepreneurial and creative individual to provide practical, pragmatic legal advice and solutions to our clients. The role will focus on a mix of general commercial, corporate, civil litigation and immigration law work. You will be providing advice to high net worth individuals and their families as well as corporations. The role will also involve business development (locally and internationally), and maintaining good client relationships. We have an international client base and the role reports to the Principal Solicitor in charge. This is a permanent full-time position based in Central London (NW1).

Skills/Experience required:

  • Proven numerical capability and technical proficiency;

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise;

  • Commercial acumen and attention to detail;

  • Exposure to the full range of dry shipping litigation matters and experience in international trade will be of interest;

  • Ability to work as a member of a team and independently;

  • Expertise in the areas of business/corporate law and immigration law an advantage;

  • Experience working previously in a similar role, with a focus on dispute resolution and demonstrable experience in supporting a commercial litigation team, would be advantageous;

  • Fluency in English essential as well as good drafting and communication skills;

  • 2:1 degree in law or equivalent, and ideally a postgraduate law degree, from reputable UK universities;

  • International experience and/or fluency in a second language (Mandarin or Cantonese) would be advantageous so that accurate legal advice can be given to English and Mandarin speaking clients; and

  • Ability to demonstrate adaptability, flexibility and cross-cultural understanding.
