Are you a health and safety specialist looking to join an award winning homes and commercial builder? Allenbuild part of the Places for People’s Group is looking to appoint a Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) Advisor to join our Safety Health and Environmental Department.

What your role will be

Based at our Edinburgh office, working with the Place Developments SHE Department you will implement management systems. Your role will be to supervise and co-ordinate work systems to promote and develop the positive safety and quality culture, to ensure we meet the highest standards, including legal requirements in terms of Health, Safety and Compliance. You will support managers to implement the SHE Management system and provide reports when required. You will advise and assist with the implementation of new or existing SHEQ related legislation, rules and company standards including fire prevention, health and safety awareness training, and site inspections. Ensure on-going compliance with ISO 9001, 140001 and ISO 50001 standards by auditing reviewing and reporting.
Your role will be based in Edinburgh however we require someone that has a flexible approach to travel.

Your background

It is essential that you have previous experience of delivering health and safety within a construction or housing environment. You will hold a minimum of the NEBOSH Construction Certificate, ideally have NEBOSH Fire safety Certificate.  It is essential that you have a qualification in or experience of ISO 9001, 14001 & OHSAS18001 Management Systems and hold a current Full First Aid at Work Certificate. An environmental Management Systems Qualification would be advantageous. You will work closely with colleagues and external organisations and be able to evidence your excellent influencing and effective communication style.  In addition evidence of the use of continuous improvement would be desirable.
