Due to recent promotions, this global building services engineering consultancy are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to become a key member of their Oxford office.

Established over 30 years ago they now operate from over 15 global offices and have a track record of attracting, developing and retaining some of the brightest Engineers in the industry. Their management structure creates a unique working environment where Engineers free to express themselves creatively and are not bogged down with bureaucracy, timesheets or excessive red tape and can just get on with the job.

Having doubled in size over the last three years and recently secured Best International Project of the Year and also Building Performance Consultancy of the Year they are looking for a reliable and client facing Senior Mechanical Engineer who can design, manage and deliver low and zero carbon projects.

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for acting as a Project Leader, manging and mentoring a team of Mechanical Engineers and Technicians, assisting with resource planning and also assisting in growing the team and also promoting and cross selling the services of the company as a whole.

Key Duties

  • Responding to client needs and attend Project kick off meetings.
  • Managing and delivering projects through concept design, detailed design and construction phases.
  • Identify and manage internal recourses to achieve required project requirements
  • Line management of staff including mentoring and conducting regular performance reviews.
  • Financial management and reporting on all projects under your control - assuming responsibility for the technical and financial success of projects.
  • Carrying out technical quality reviews.
  • Identifying new business opportunities and also cross selling opportunities for other specialism such as Sustainability, Lighting, Master-planning advice.
  • Assist preparing fee bids.
  • Provide specialist technical advice and guidance at group level on HVAC and integrated design topics.
  • Maintain an awareness of developments and innovations, advise on how new technologies or systems can be used on projects.


  • Degree qualified in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of eight years' experience in a similar role.
  • Previous experience in managing people and managing projects.
  • Ideally Chartered or actively pursuing Chartership with clear evidence that the Engineering Practice report has been started.
  • Able to interact and build rapport quickly with clients, contractors, architects, developers and colleagues.
  • Varied project experience across at least two of the following sectors - education, healthcare, hotel & leisure, regeneration & master planning or science and technology.
