Full Time
Job location: Witham St Hughs, Lincoln, LN6 9TN

This exciting role, within Cargill’s European agricultural supply chain business, offers a rare opportunity for a commercially focused graduate to gain an insight into the global commodity, shipping and financial markets.

You will begin with an initial, intensive 4-6 month orientation. A series of short-term placements in various parts of our UK operation will provide hands-on exposure to our shipping and logistics, customer services, administration, operations and finance areas.

Once you understand the key elements of the business, you will join a small commercial team or "desk" responsible for the risk management, sales and marketing of a variety of grains, vegetable oils and other soft commodities worldwide.

Main Tasks:
  • Make commercial decisions to generate revenue and manage the inherent risks of a physical supply chain.
  • Manage and develop relationships with external customers and suppliers in a customer facing role.
  • Analyse local and world market supply and demand, and work with your team to develop an effective trading and risk management strategy.
  • Work with other Cargill businesses  to develop new commercial relationships
Through-out your first 2 years at Cargill you will participate in our wider European Graduate Program. This allows recent graduates from all over Europe to meet and participate in a structured series of 2-3 day workshops held in different European cities. These provide a broader introduction to Cargill, and focus on developing vital skills such as effective team working, communication, developing a global mindset, problem solving and decision making.

Equipped with this range of skills and, crucially, the exposure to the tangible, fundamental factors which really underpin the figures on a trading screen, our past graduates have progressed to successful careers all over the world in a wide variety of fields.

This is an intellectually demanding role which lies at the heart of our business, and requires focus, commitment and a commercial perspective. We require:
  • A minimum 2:1 degree
  • A minimum of 3 B's at A Level, or equivalent

  • The ability to speak and write accurately and concisely in English
  • The ability to make an impact in person - to persuade, influence and gain consensus
  • A full UK driving license
What else do we offer as part of this role?
  • Starting salary - £28,500
  • Private medical insurance
  • Stakeholder Pension Scheme
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Extensive Learning and Development opportunities
  • Mentoring Programme

The assessment centre consists of a range of activities where you get to show us more about yourself and how you work both individually and in a small group.
