Construction Inspector/Clerk of Works
Our client based in London are a leading housing association who manage approximately 26,000 affordable rented homes and house around 45,000 people. They are looking to recruit a Construction Inspector/Clerk of Works to support and contribute to the delivery of their development programme through the effective control of construction and quality of building projects and, in liaison with consultants, to ensure that contractors carry out the Association's requirements.
As the successful candidate you will attend site inspections, snagging and handovers of the works delivered through the Development programme. This will involve visiting sites, checking work against contract specification and industry best practice, liaising with the contractors, contract administrators and project manager and feedback any problems. You will also be responsible for the following:
- To ensure the works on site are carried out in compliance with all required construction standards such as specifications, plans and contract documents and relevant statutory and best practice. Make recommendations (in the agreed format) about any aspect of the works which do not conform with the plans, specifications, or schedules of works and other documentation or which might be unsatisfactory for other reasons of design, workmanship or cost
- Promptly report any deviation from relevant standards or issues which may lead to potential future maintenance or practical problems for their clients residents or aesthetic appearance of the building or layout
- Attend site inspections, snagging and handovers of the works delivered through the Development programme. This will involve visiting sites, checking work against contract specification and industry best practice, liaising with the contractors, contract administrators and project manager and feedback any problems
- To attend departmental team meetings, post project review meetings and contribute to and implement continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications and experience
ONC or NVQ level 3 or above in relevant subject and at least 5 years' experience as Clerk of Work/Construction Inspector for new build.
Membership of institute Of Clerk of Works or other relevant body is desirable.
Must hold a full driving licence
