At Select Norwich we are currently recruiting for a creative, ambitious and talented Sous Chef on behalf of our client, a well-known and privately owned high-end restaurant group, who operate within Suffolk. With three establishments, each having established themselves as destination restaurants, there is plenty of scope for progression within the group.

The successful Sous Chef candidate will have the opportunity to work with the finest quality, fresh, local and seasonal produce. They will aid the Head Chef in leading the kitchen, and will ensure their excellent reputation is maintained within the Michelin-listed and two rosette restaurant.

The Role

  • Work efficiently and effectively within the brigade, producing rosette standard dishes using fresh, local and seasonal produce
  • Confidently taking on Head Chef responsibilities when needed, ensuring service always runs smoothly
  • Sous chef must be assertive; they must delegate, instruct and motivate more junior members
  • Be comfortable and skilled in all aspects of the kitchen, from plating dishes to dealing with suppliers and constructing creative and innovative menus
  • Being directly responsible for the quality of food, the Sous chef will strive for perfection and always endeavour to exceed expectations
  • Constantly assess the performance of the kitchen team and provide effective training when necessary
  • The successful Sous Chef must always be at the top of their game, be committed to their role within the kitchen and a reliable member of the team

Experience and Skills required

  • Previous Sous Chef experience is essential
  • Skilfully work with fresh ingredients
  • Knowledge of seasonality and food trends
  • Experience working in a rosette awarded restaurant is desired
  • Comfortable working under pressure and with high volume
