If yes, this is the role for you! CAS behavioural health is one of the UK’s largest providers of specialist adult services in mental health rehabilitation and learning disabilities.

Lowry House is a new community specialist residential home providing outcome-focused care for adults with learning disabilities, who may have behaviours that challenge and associated complex needs. It is a purpose- built 12-bed home, that consists of six discrete self-contained apartments configured to meet the needs of the residents in single occupancy, or two or three bed apartments for men and women. We offer personalised accommodation with spacious communal areas, several activity rooms, a physical fitness suite, enclosed outdoor garden and easy access to local amenities.

Job Role

As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will have a unique opportunity to lead on the development and delivery of an evidence-based SLT service to meet the needs of the complex client group. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will use expert skills to assess, advise and intervene with the aim of promoting functional communication systems and optimal independence. You will have highly developed clinical and professional skills to work autonomously and as part of a team to drive forward developments across the setting and in the SLT service; including training and supervising other members of the team to embed positive communication approaches as part of a standard good practice pathway. This will also include the identification, development and implementation of a successful total communication environment. You will offer support and advice on a daily basis and assist with transitional needs where required. A key aspect of your role will be to work effectively as part of the companywide SLT team and contribute to service development.

About You

The successful candidate for this role will have a degree or a postgraduate diploma in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent) and be registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC). A postgraduate qualification in the management of dysphagia is also desirable.

Ideally, you will have experience as a Specialist / Highly Specialist SLT (equivalent to Band 6/7) and of working with Learning Disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorders and Mental Health Conditions. A good understanding of Positive Behaviour Support with an emphasis on person-centred planning along with organisational and project management skills are required.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and we are committed to safeguarding and protecting the people within our care.
