Fast growing, international law firm with a strong global presence and reputation is looking for a Finance Assistant to join the Partnership and Tax team. This is great opportunity for you if you are wanting to work in London, have a legal or professional services background in a finance role and are looking to take the next step in your career.

As the Finance Assistant within this global law firm, you will be responsible for the partners financial and tax affairs, as well as maintaining the firm's international financial structure and administering the firm's tax lodgings as well as the following:

  • Preparing and arranging payment of partners monthly drawings, including reconciling London partner drawings accounts and accounting of all transactions relating to this process
  • Running monthly reports on partners performance data for circulation and to use for calculating payments due to partners
  • Payment of partners pension releases and other ad hoc payments to partners
  • Set up monthly payment schedules for partners and post payments onto Elite 3E
  • Maintain and setup partner information on Elite 3E
  • Run reports and check consultants keys payment terms against reports and provide reports to management for approval
  • Arrange payment schedules for ex-partner consultants and annuities
  • Review worldwide drawings submissions from international branch accountants, check for errors and raise queries as appropriate
  • Preparation and checking of all London partner payslips for payment of monthly drawings
  • Assisting with accounting for branch head offices, including general ledger postings, preparation of monthly bank reconciliations and inter-office loan reconciliations
  • Assisting with accounting for HFW Nominees Ltd, including monthly bank reconciliations, MYOB bookkeeping and preparation and filing of quarterly VAT returns
  • Reconciliation of partners capital
  • Deal with partner queries
  • Assistant with ad hoc information requests from other areas of the firm

Other duties included:

  • Assist in the preparation of undrawn profit distributions payment schedules
  • Assist in the preparation of FSP bonus payment schedules
  • Administration of partner moves (joiners, leavers, transfers between offices), including updating and checking the HR information system
  • Post, administer and reconcile partners tax payments
  • Maintain and update partners remuneration spreadsheets
  • Paying ex-partner consultants and reconciling their payments
  • Assist with process of partner capital subscriptions
  • Assist in the partners bi annual tax payments on account to HMRC
  • Prepare payment schedule for annuity partners and annual R185 forms
  • Pension releases for partners
  • Assisting with year-end tasks
  • Assisting with reconciliation of annual partners current account
  • Liaising with international branch accountants on queries and providing process instructions
  • Maintain large number of interlinked spreadsheet in an accurate and efficient manner
  • Use different information sources for analytical purposes and provide information in a user-friendly manner to end recipient
  • Develop and improve processes for more efficiencies
  • Other ad hoc duties relating to partners and partnership accounting as required

Skills and experience required as the Finance Assistant:

  • Studying towards AAT/ACCA/CIMA (or equivalent qualification)
  • VBA skills advantageous
  • Experience in using different legal software i.e. Elite 3E, Aderant
  • Understanding basic double entry accounting
  • Able to read and analyse General Ledger Transactions
  • Understanding basic accounting terminology
  • A minimum of 5 years' previous experience within legal finance/professional services
