Volunteering Projects Officer
We are recruiting on behalf of a social welfare charity that supports people living in poverty in the UK and Ireland. You will have good project management experience of co-ordinating cross organisational projects within a PRINCE2 framework (or similar) using project management tools.
To deliver key projects and volunteering initiatives to develop the volunteering programme across the charity to increase volunteering opportunities and volunteering participation.
Co-ordinate the befriending service on a day-to-day basis and provide operational support to volunteer befrienders and befriendees ensuring that befriender visits are appropriately organised, arrangements communicated and that the relevant risk assessments have been completed.
Responsible for all stages of volunteer befriender, skills bank volunteer and other project volunteer role recruitment including advertising and promotion of the role, timely responses to enquiries, interviews and assessment of the suitability of volunteers in respect of their skills and availability against the relevant role description.
To evaluate new volunteering projects and initiatives and report on their impact.
Contribute to the planning, development and growth of volunteering services.
A level qualifications or equivalent
Good project management skills
Excellent administrative skills, including experience with databases for reporting, attention to detail and effective prioritisation
Ability to competently use MS Office suite to deliver work, especially Word and Excel
Good organisational skills with experience of managing own workload and reacting to changing circumstances or demand
Excellent customer service skills
Desirable Project management qualification such as Prince2
Essential Understanding of charitable work and the voluntary sector
Knowledge of volunteering good practice and its practical application including an understanding of the role of volunteers working alongside paid staff
Experience of coordinating cross organisational projects
Experience of working in a PRINCE2 framework or similar using project management tools such as Gantt charts and risk registers
Experience in a volunteer led environment
Experience in monitoring project performance and budgets and compiling evaluation
