Currently recruiting an Assistant Accountant to work for an Engineering company based in Warrington. You will ideally be part-qualified ACCA/CIMA though this is not obligatory, with primary responsibility initially for the accurate and timely preparation of monthly management accounts and year end statutory accounts for its UK business.

You will operate within a team of 4 (including the part-time FD) with day-to-day responsibility for the UK accounting, reporting to the Office Manager. You will be commercially minded and be enthusiastic about looking to take the lead in supervise banking/funding, fx hedging, HR management, IT infrastructure, tax (eg VAT), commercial contract negotiations, insurances and other issues as they arise (eg. grant applications/claim submissions, UK Border Agency, trade marks, telephone contracts).

There is the possibility that, after qualifying and demonstrating suitability, you will progress into more senior positions within the company as both the Office Manager and Finance Director will be looking to retire over the next few years.

Day to day routines are what would be expected:

*Maintaining accurate accounting records (the Company uses QuickBooks)

*VAT returns

*Payroll submissions (to an external agency) and pensions management

* Credit control

* general office support including assisting the Managing Director.

Plus monthly preparation of management accounts, together with variance reporting, and annually to prepare the year end numbers and supporting information for the external accountants to prepare statutory accounts.

You will need to be discrete, computer-literate, have a strong knowledge of Excel and Word, be able to work under pressure and in a commercial and growing organisation, be a good communicator and have good interpersonal skills.
