Senior Internal Auditor - Insurance audit experience required
A leading City based Reinsurance Group seeks an experienced Internal Auditor (with Top 10 or Insurance background) to undertake the internal audit activities on behalf of the business for all assigned UK companies, providing an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity in order to add value and to the operations. Candidates will have strong related background, with specific experience of internal audit of insurance business, be degree level education or relevant experience and have Internal auditing or insurance qualifications.
The role is to improve the effectiveness of the risk management, controls, and governance processes and to enhance internal audit's standing within the organisation.
Duties and responsibilities - Audit engagement activities To undertake internal audits (lead, standalone or supporting roles).
To prepare an Audit Scope document for each audit undertaken and to gain agreement and buy-in from the business unit/s concerned. To utilise applicable audit tools and techniques in order to adequately achieve the audit objectives.
To maintain complete, adequate and accurate working papers during the audit, including hard-copies and/or electronic files. These records shall form a comprehensive and clear audit trail to support all audit findings, conclusions and recommendations. To critically assess the quality of work done by colleagues where leading an audit.
Reporting To provide ongoing formal and/or informal feedback to the relevant business unit/s and the Head of Audit during the course of an audit. To formally report the findings, conclusions, and any recommendations arising from the audit. To provide a risk-level grading to audit findings and recommendations. Monitoring & follow-up activities - To take ownership for monitoring the implementation of recommendations by stakeholders. To regularly liaise with each applicable business unit, in order to ascertain progress with the completion of agreed recommendations. To escalate to management where key recommendations are not completed, or are not completed satisfactorily.To plan and conduct follow-up audits, where considered necessary, in order to evaluate the satisfactory completion of original audit recommendations. Relationship management activities, To develop relationships with stakeholders as agreed with the Head of Audit.
