Teacher of Science - Hillcrest School, Dudley
Hillcrest School, Dudley
Teacher of Science
Required for September 2017
We are looking for an ambitious, enthusiastic and successful Science practitioner keen to develop their career to join our friendly and supportive team. This role would suit a newly qualified teacher or a more experienced teacher seeking a new challenge. NQTs will be offered a July 2017 start.
Hillcrest School and Community College is an oversubscribed school in the Netherton area of Dudley, West Midlands. We are a dynamic and inclusive team and committed to sharing ideas and improving standards. Our pupils work hard to achieve their highest potential and they appreciate good teaching and support.
The Science team is a large and dynamic team with a balance of youth and experience and an ethos of sharing ideas and driving standards in teaching forward. As a result they are one of the highest performing core departments in the school. Results in the separate sciences in particular are often well above the national average. Recent work on implementing the new 9-1 'Trilogy' and 'Synergy' GCSEs across a 3 year Key Stage 4 and additional curriculum time given to science to ensure their successful delivery will guarantee that this drive towards excellence is maintained. The lead teacher, working alongside a science lead practitioner for teaching and learning are fully committed to making this a truly outstanding department.
You will also benefit from working in a school with a proven track record of teacher training, as such many of our Science team have progressed from NQTs to roles of responsibility within the department and some have taken on pastoral roles or even moved into senior leadership. This includes the current Head of Department who came to us after the end of his NQT year from a neighbouring school and our two TLR point holders in Science who both came to us as NQTs. The department also benefits from a previous Head of Science who has been promoted to Lead Practitioner for Professional Development, whilst this current advertised role is due to the promotion of a Science Head of House to a SENCo position and promotion of another former Science Head of Department to Assistant Principal.
This is an exciting time for Hillcrest as we enter into the new Dudley Multi Academy Trust with three partner secondary schools locally and backed by Dudley College. This will further increase the resources and finance available to the school and will allow staff even greater opportunities for career advancement within the MAT.
If you would like to be part of a dynamic team, whose main aim is to increase the life chances of pupils through raising attainment, then we welcome your application.
Visits to the school are welcomed and encouraged, please contact Hays Education if you would like to arrange this.
