Eden Scott's client is a specialist accounting and bookkeeper's firm based in the heart of Edinburgh's picturesque city centre. They are currently looking for a part-time bookkeeper to join their finance team and support the wider financial function. The Bookkeeper will be required to support the ongoing processing of accounts data to software, related reconciliations and management reporting across a portfolio of clients. This role is an extremely varied post that offers exposure to all elements of the accounting and finance function of the business. The range of functions covered in this post is extensive. Responsibilities To receive and process purchase invoices, ensuring that potential risks, such as duplication, are avoided. To ensure purchase invoices are authorised appropriately, according to agreed controls. To raise sales invoices from information supplied. To receive and process bank, credit card or petty cash transactions appropriately ensuring that digital/paper documentation is filled appropriately to support each transaction. To assist with the preparation of month end management tasks, including the preparation of schedules to support control account balances. To manage the provision of monthly payroll services. To process payroll appropriately to software and provide payroll files promptly for authorisation. To assist with the setup of auto-enrollment schemes for payroll clients. Attention to detail and ability to work accurately is a prerequisite. An excellent working knowledge of accounts software used in the practice, particularly Sage and Xero. An ability to work under your own steam but not feel anxious to flag up any queries or issues. An ability to work competitively to a deadline is essential.
