Our new solution, nowlight, builds on user feedback and technology advances to generate instant light and power with the pull of a cord.
Just 1 minute pulling generates > 1 hour of light!

nowlight is extremely versatile: as well as powering multiple lights and USB devices, nowlight is a hybrid solution with 3 charging options: manual (pull), solar and mains.

Over the past year we've taken nowlight from concept to prototype, crowdfund to tooled sample and we're gearing up for an international launch in November...

We are looking for a Marketing Manager to lead the international launch of our new product: nowlight

This is a unique opportunity to build and develop a brand with social purpose – internally and externally, at both the company and product levels.

Working at a small start-up, this role is broad and dynamic - spanning marketing and PR for launch and scale across multiple markets:
1. Off-grid households and those with intermittent power in developing countries
2. Humanitarian Aid and Relief: NGOs and government agencies providing essential items in crisis scenarios
3. Emergency Preparedness in developed countries, such as USA, New Zealand and Japan
4. ‘Leisure’ market for camping and cabins to BBQs and beach huts

Given the very different demographics and stakeholders in each, this will involve building tailored plans and implementation across multiple channels and touch points.

- Minimum of 4 years relevant work experience including building strategic marketing plans from scratch and implementation of these
- Experience in an early stage organisation, at start-up / growth stage
- An ability to span both strategy and execution: being able to set longer term direction and quickly switching to detailed, planning and implementation mode.
- Extremely comfortable working across all social media channels, creating content and using analytics tools for each
- Launched new products or an existing product into new markets
- A passion for social business and the power of products in creating positive social and environmental change.
- Ability to build strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and partners
- Ability to work in the UK and fluent English is essential

- Building Consumer, Customer and Market Understanding
Understanding the real needs of consumers drives our product development – and this involves a continuous focus on user trials and feedback. Understanding who is buying our product, our customers, helps refine our sales and marketing strategy. Staying close to market trends and the competitor landscape helps ensure we continue to create – and talk about – a product range that taps into the latest technology and has a real point of difference vs other solutions. This is at the core of the Marketing Manager’s role.

- Brand Development
Refining our current brand strategies at both company and product level, particularly in Year 1 as we refine our Go-To-Market approach for nowlight.

- Marketing & PR Strategy & Implementation
Build tailored marketing and PR plans for launch (Nov 18) and campaigns to scale thereafter.
Content creation – across the website and social channels; press releases. Including impact reporting.
Using analytics to assess and refine strategy.
Build our ‘community’, including relationships with key influencers and the press to drive organic content, awareness, sales and impact.
NB. as a lean start-up we are not using agencies though will use specialist support (eg. video, graphic design) where needed; the majority of content creation and implementation will be done by the marketing manager.

- Collaborations and Partnerships
Lead development of mutually beneficial campaigns with distribution partners, ambassadors and licensees.

- Budget Management
Responsible for budget proposals, managing tendering processes and reporting on spend, including ROI analysis and recommendations for future strategy.
