Locum Consultant in Gastroenterology

The gastrointestinal services division at University College Hospital is one of the largest in the UK, with 13 clinical and academic consultant physicians working within the subspecialty areas of upper GI/laser medicine, HPB medicine, lower GI/IBD, nutrition, and clinical physiology. In September 2005 the department moved into the newly built University College Hospital, and a state-of-the-art 7 room endoscopy suite.

The Division is seeking to appoint a full time Consultant in Gastroenterology for 12 months specialising in IBD and Colorectal Medicine.

The successful applicant will have a commitment to high quality patient care, innovative service models, delivery of performance targets, and excellence in education/training.

Colorectal Medicine

The Colorectal Service at UCLH is one of the largest in the Trust, and has an international reputation for both the quality and expertise of the clinical service, and the endoscopic/clinical training provided

Key duties include:-

  • Educational input into the training of the junior Gastroenterology doctors


  • Developing Endoscopy expertise, in particular lower GI procedures


  • IBD patient management.


  • GI adolescent patient management


  • General Gastroenterology


  • Gastroenterology on-call (1 in 12)
