Roles & Responsibilities

We are looking for a curious and enthusiastic team to help open our new Upper Street space. To connect with local people and businesses and create an exciting and immersive space where people can get to know us and we can get to know them in return.

The space will act both as an events hub and a retail location; providing a place for visitors to understand and purchase products while also nurturing local talent and knowledge and hearing the stories of local creatives, businesses and innovators.

As the Retail & Events Manager you will be responsible for overseeing a team of Visitor Experience Assistants and maintaining the operational running of the retail space.

Primary Responsibilities

*

Overseeing the day-to-day operations and events held in the space.

*

Monitoring and managing stock on the shop floor and in storage.

*

Promoting income generation through interactions and by building meaningful connections.

*

Resolving customer issues and queries.

*

Providing training and supervision to staff in stock and till procedures.

*

Financial reporting and understanding on running a cash-free retail premises.

*

Ensuring all regulations are being complied with in store.

*

Inspiring and leading the team of Visitor Experience Assistants on a duty basis.

*

Ensuring safe opening and closing of the premises each duty.

Assist the VEM

*

Recruitment and training Visitor Experience Assistants.

*

Ensuring the space is fully staffed during open hours, following up on lateness and absence of the shop team.

*

In the effective set up and running of internal and external events.

*

Identifying visitor needs and requirements and feeding this information back.

*

Designing and running training sessions.

Other

*

Attending training sessions and contribute to feedback meetings.

*

Maintaining an excellent standard of personal presentation.

*

Ensuring the safety of all visitors and colleagues.

*

Working weekends and occasional evenings.

*

Carrying out any other reasonable tasks as requested by management.

Skills & Experience

Essential

*

Significant experience working in retail.

*

Proven experience managing stock and till systems.

*

Outstanding communication skills and ability to adapt to suit a wide range of audiences.

*

Flexibility in working hours and an ability to readjust working practices as the space develops.

*

An enthusiastic and eagerness to develop new concepts working alongside colleagues.

Desirable

*

An understanding of and experience in working on community events.

*

Appreciation and knowledge of the Upper Street, Islington area.

*

An interest in and knowledge of the body and fragrance industry
