Job Title - Estimator

Salary - £65-£75k/annum plus package

Location - Enfield

The company is a boutique well-Contractor specialising in both commercial and residential in the construction in industry. The projects they undertake tend to come from existing clients through repeat business and they pride themselves in quality of work and standards. Our client typically takes on 4-5 projects at a time to provide the best possible service with all necessary resources.

Our client is now actively looking to recruit an Estimator to join the existing team. You will be required to manage the commercial and residential sector. The project is a complete new build and refurbishment Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting feasibility studies to estimate materials, time and labour costs
  • Prepare, negotiate and analyse costs for tenders and contracts
  • Visit to site as required to ensure that costings are adhered to through the construction process
  • Valuing completed work and arranging for payments
  • Doing take-offs, BofQ's, valuations and variations
  • Cost reporting
  • Submitting valuations, price variations, final accounts and checking of rates
  • 4 years Surveying or Estimating experience
  • MRICS (ideally)
  • New build and refurbishment project experience
  • Strong Pre-and Post-contract experience
  • Track record of liaising with clients Qualifications:
  • Estimating - 2 years demonstrated residential UK experience
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Must be computer literate
  • To be able to work under your own direction with minimum supervision within the Reconstruction team whilst maintaining group estimating procedures
  • Receive, acknowledge and check tender documentation and raising queries as necessary
  • To confidently present the estimate supported by a fully priced net cost build up with full knowledge of the project and produce a fully completed Tender Quality Plan
  • To liaise with other members of the bid team as appropriate to ensure that all aspects of the tender are understood and responded to
  • Attend meetings with design and professional teams and be fully involved in risk and opportunity management
  • Evaluating the tender information, preparing the action plan
  • Maintain regular contact with client and consultant teams
  • Ensure that working relationships with client's construction teams are managed professionally
  • The ability to manage other estimating team members at bid stage, such as administrators and another bid staff
  • To assist in sub-contractor and supplier selection and ensure competitiveness
