About the role

This role is part of a small finance team which supports the needs of the Customer Services business within Capita Local Government. The role involves ongoing challenging of the financial reporting and forecasting of the business, ensuring strong financial controls and procedures are in place, but also provide support and advice to the business via continual support to the operations teams. It also involves supporting new sales and bids.
This role involves some minimal travel to other sites & offers the flexibility to work from home 1-2 days per week.

The Role & Responsibilities

The role of the Finance team is to provide strong financial support, management and robust challenge within the business, enabling the Cost Centre Managers to deliver their monthly Cost Centre information and reporting in a timely manner, help drive growth and improved profitability as well as aiding effective and efficient management of, and decision making across the business. The team will also ensure a strong financial control environment exists, and proactively support/police the adherence to Capita policies and procedures whilst encouraging continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities of the role are:

Financial Management and Reporting

  • Drive monthly cost centre reviews, challenge performance and ensure integrity of monthly forecasts within the forecasting system (Axiom) whilst ensuring they are stretching but achievable

  • Manage production of monthly management accounts within set deadlines, ensuring accurate reflection of financial performance and variances

  • Help Cost Centre Managers to drive growth, improved profitability, and operational resilience by utilisation and monitoring of appropriate KPI's, and other management information, and provide challenge thereof

  • Assist with the annual Business Plan process helping Cost Centre Managers with the setting of stretching but achievable Business Plan forecasts

  • Help assess, mitigate and manage business and financial risks

  • Support the sales team by producing and validating cost inputs for new bids and propositions

    Other Responsibilities

  • Provide financial support and guidance and training to Cost Centre Managers

  • Ensure Capita Best Practice and standard systems, processes and procedures are in operation, ensuring compliance with Capita Policies and rules and proactively strive for continuous improvements

    Key Skills/Experience

    Essential

  • Ability to work independently of supervision and be proactive in all areas of the role.

  • Able to solve problems and present back clear findings to management

  • Strong skills and ability in excel. Must be competent of dealing with large, formula driven, spreadsheets and able to present clear and concise summaries.

  • At least part qualified in a recognised Professional Accountancy qualification such as CIMA/ACCA etc.,

  • Attention to detail but also being able to see the "bigger picture"

  • Team player with "hands on" approach

  • Excellent Communication skills

  • Ability to liaise with non-finance staff and at all levels
