THE SCHOOL

This school is hugely popular and heavily oversubscribed, reflecting the belief that parents have in the school, partly due to the broad and balanced curriculum that they offer as well as the good exam results that they have achieved, and partly because the school believes strongly in building character and creativity in their students.

The school is currently an 11-16 comprehensive, although a new 6th form is due to open by the end of the year which will offer a range of opportunities for taking on additional responsibility as a teacher, as well as allowing you to use your knowledge of Art and your lesson planning skills within a challenging, academic setting.

The school is attached to a state-of-the-art public sports centre which they have access to until 5pm, meaning that staff have free access to a gym and large swimming pool in both the morning and after school. Teachers at the school also get a massively discounted rate to use the facilities outside of these hours.

Student's behaviour is of an excellent standard, and student and staff relationships are strong. The school are now looking for teachers who will stretch and challenge the students so they will make the most of their academic abilities.

THE POSITION

As the Head of Maths you will have the opportunity to implement best practice to ensure that your team are able to succeed in continuing a history of positive results within the school. A strong grasp of Statistics and Core Maths would be highly significant in assisting the applicants chance for success. The team includes a combination of experienced Teachers and recently qualified Teachers and so a good and understanding management approach would be required to ensure that the staff may feel comfortable.

YOU AS A CANDIDATE

  • You must have QTS for England to apply for this role.
  • Ideally, the school would like you to have a relevant degree in Mathematics or a specialist area of Mathematics, although having experience teaching Mathematics and leading a team is their primary concern.
  • You will be an excellent practitioner who can enthuse and inspire
  • You will be passionate about raising aspirations and improving educational life chances.
  • Experienced in managing staff or looking to progress into a role where you will have the opportunity to manage staff
