Our client, an International Law Firm, are looking for a Paralegal to join their team in Central Bristol. The stylish office is located close to Temple Meads & on all major bus routes.

The Construction Insurance team tends to defend construction professionals who are the subject of claims resulting from problems and buildings. They can be contractors, architects, engineers of all types (consulting, civil, structural, acoustic) Most of the claims are civil claims, but they are increasingly seeing claims by regulatory bodies for breaches of professional codes.

The successful candidate will work with everyone in the team, both performing key roles on large claims and, potentially, managing your own files - you will be crucial to the team in making sure the cases are handled appropriately.

You will be working Monday - Friday (usual working hours are 09.30 - 5.30 pm Monday - Friday) Full and part time opportunities may be available, according to current need. The salary will be £18,000 - £22,000 depending on experience & brilliant benefits including: life assurance, income protection, group personal pension, childcare vouchers, season ticket loan (travel), mortgage advice, private medical insurance, ride2work, gym flex and holiday flex among others!

Key duties will include:
" Providing trainee-level support to fee earners in the team. Work will include, for example, general matter support, disclosure, preparation of bundles and court documents, document management and review, drafting witness statements, legal research, managing an internal blog, preparing key documents and their attachments, and liaising with experts, barristers and clients.
" In due course, it is likely that you will manage your own files, particularly surveyor over valuation claims and lower value construction claims.
" Preparing retainer letters for files and ensuring that the team is working efficiently and in compliance with client Service Level Agreements.
" Assisting with certain administrative functions when required, including setting up new matters, maintaining accurate management information on the team's files, and dealing with invoices and other finance issues.
Paralegals are expected to contribute to the development of the team by:
- Delivering high quality and timely output to clients, ensuring high levels of client service and alignment with agreed working practices.
- Working to develop an environment of constant improvement: enthusiastically sharing with and helping others; and taking responsibility for aspects of team development, such as intranet pages, training and induction, process improvement, technologies etc.
- Capturing and collating required MI in accordance with agreed practice - for performance management, client reporting, SLAs, pricing and other purposes.
- Contributing to the development and improvement of the team's service, support, processes and procedures.

" Client focused and high service delivery to the client, keeping them up to date with developments as and when required.
" A good working knowledge of law firm operations and pressures; understanding the need for efficient, timely, cost-effective support.
" Confident, with strong written and verbal communication skills. The job does require you to be confident on the phone with a range of people such as insurers, insured, witnesses, experts, counsel and your opponents.
" Hardworking, enthusiastic and motivated.
" Commercially aware, with an understanding of the concepts of efficiency.
" Ability to consider, analyse and advise upon large amounts of documents and material in a short space of time and report to insurers.
" Organised and efficient.
" Ability to deal with difficult or demanding situations and clients.
" Understand the importance of MI for the insurer clients and to keep your MI accurate and up to date ahead of the monthly bordereau being sent to clients.

" Previous paralegal experience.
" LPC, CILEX, law degree or GDL.
" Experience within the field of professional negligence claims.
