THE ORGANISATION: Our Client specialises in supporting young people with severe and profound learning difficulties and complex health needs. The Home provides a transitional opportunity moving from education into adulthood with a focus on person-centred programmes to promote independence. This home is registered for 31 beds and currently undergoing renovation with each area designed to provide flexible, homely and comfortable age-appropriate living accommodation. Rooms are large and wheelchair accessible and can be equipped with assistive technology where required. All the living areas have a kitchen where people are encouraged to get involved in choosing and preparing meals and a large lounge area where residents can relax and socialise with their house mates. Our Client works with people with multiple disabilities who may have sensory and physical impairments and will benefit from specialist facilities designed to meet their needs. As a Support Worker, you will be helping individuals to live the lives they choose and to 'empower them to grow'. We are looking for candidates who are passionate in supporting young people to learn and prepare for the future. This may include practical skills, like cooking, cleaning and budgeting and supporting young people to manage their anxieties or social difficulties. Key Roles & Responsibilities: To keep students safe Implement the Waking Day Curriculum for young people Support the maintenance of a safe, homely environment Understand and comply with regulatory standards Promote and encourage independence at all times Liaison with parents, guardians and colleagues As appropriate, attend meetings and contribute towards planning around the young person THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE: You will be dedicated and passionate about helping people and have a real interest in improving the lives of others. Knowledge and experience of supporting vulnerable people Relevant knowledge or experience of special needs environment(s). Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and/or DOLs procedures Experience of a range of approaches to managing and de-escalating challenging behaviours. Experience working within support/care roles with young people You must be able to demonstrate you can work as part of a team as well as an ability to work independently.
