Job Role

An opportunity has been created within our technology team for a Mid-Weight developer focused on backend application development. The role will be part of a multi-disciplinary technology team working alongside creative designers, UX specialists, strategist’s data experts that build and maintain innovative new products and applications for organisations, you will be fascinated with technology and have an insatiable appetite for new technologies and development practices.

You will be working on a variety of internal and client related projects, designing solutions and delivering new platforms, applying customisations and supporting products and services for our clients. You will be instrumental across the entire development lifecycle of our projects.

Key Responsibilities:

·Write clean code to develop functional web applications

·Provide support for greenfield and brownfield solution design

·Application optimisation for speed and scalability

·Learn, grow and manage automated pipeline delivery

·Understand the importance of security and data protection

·Collaborate with Front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with backend systems

·Provide training and support to internal teams

·PHP with experience of Laravel

·Understanding of VPS and cloud-based infrastructure

·Knowledge of CMS frameworks - Wordpress, Drupal

·Understanding of CI/CD workflows and why its applicable to modern development practices

·Working with and creating REST APIs

·Consuming 3rd Party API's - Google, Facebook et al

·In-depth understanding of the software development lifecycle (design, development and deployment)

·Understanding of application security and optimisation

·Excellent source code control - Github / Bitbucket - confidently merge changes, resolve conflicts and tagging versions

·Apache & NGINX

·Linux admin and shell scripting


·e-commerce platforms

·TDD / BDD practices

·Understanding of headless & decoupled CMS

·Working knowledge of Python

·Document databases





General Skills

·Agency background is an advantage

·Working knowledge of agile & waterfall approaches to software development

·Excellent time management skills and a natural problem solver

·A passion for and advocate of emerging technologies and how they relate

·An awareness and empathy towards other disciplines and how they impact technical functions

·Able to build positive relationships across the agency and disciplines

·Good verbal communication skills and the ability to convey complex solutions to non-technical people

·Good written presentation with regards to document writing
