The Opportunity Manufacturing UK is an integral part of the Operations Directorate whose principal mission is to ensure that MBDA’s deliverable commitments are met in terms of time, cost and quality. An opportunity has arisen for a high calibre and experienced Production Engineering Manager (the MSC) to lead a multi-disciplined team in the delivery of production contracts containing both development and production elements. This is an excellent opportunity to join the UK Manufacturing team at the Stevenage site working closely with Design Teams and the manufacturing team at Bolton and the Weapon Integration facility at Henlow. The Role Development and implementation of manufacturing and test architecture to meet design and production requirements at Inert build level. Compilation of Industrial Validation Plans to ensure a robust and comprehensive technical solutions are available both in our manufacturing facility and supply chain. Providing technical inputs to bids for new business to facilitate successful outcomes. Initiate and lead process and technology improvements to deliver continuous improvements in quality, cycle time and asset availability. Manage and report against the project/unit work programmes, including analysis of risk. Risk identification and aversion strategies associated with technical definition and manufacturing methodologies. Develop, maintain and control technical interfaces to customers, suppliers and collaborators to ensure effective and swift resolution of technical issues. Plan, lead and control ongoing engineering processes and activities to ensure delivery to agreed plans. Develop and maintain engineering project plans and budget profiles to ensure delivery of milestones to agreed cost targets and timescales. Develop resource plans and liaise with Functional Management throughout the project life cycle to ensure staff, of the required capability, are available as and when required. Provide technical leadership and direction to a multi-disciplined engineering team to ensure project deliverables are on time and to budget. Identify skills and facility requirement to meet the needs of new product technology. Maintaining a robust Design for Manufacture and Design for Test solution in a frequently changing prime design environment. Provision of manufacturing architectures that sustain production and support programmes extending 20 years and beyond What’s in it for you? Degree qualified or equivalent, plus substantial relevant experience in a complex Electronic or Electro –Mechanical manufacturing environment. Extensive experience in engineering leadership/management. In depth knowledge of the design, make, prove interface role and Design for Manufacture and Test. A good understanding of Project management and Supply Chain principles, practices and processes. Good commercial and financial understanding. Good Negotiating and influencing skills. Highly developed communication skills: able to communicate verbally and in writing. What would you get?
