The Opportunity An excellent opportunity has arisen within MBDA to lead an engineering team in the manufacture and delivery of one of our latest complex weapon systems. As the technical lead and engineering team leader you will be working closely with the design teams and other functions within the business to ensure our products are delivered on time to cost and quality requirements The Role Develop manufacturing systems and processes in response to the defined Manufacturing Architecture and the Manufacturing, Inspection and Test Plan. Creation and approval of manufacturing and test instruction documentation. Process FMEA and process capability proving. Manage and report against the team’s work programmes, including analysis of risk, to ensure the team delivers its accountabilities. Lead and support Continuous Improvement initiatives to ensure the area of responsibility is continually developing to improve efficiency. Support the Manufacturing System Controller during the preparation and proving of the Production System for Certificate of Manufacture approval. Risk identification and aversion strategies associated with technical definition and manufacturing methodologies. Development, maintain and control technical interfaces to customers, suppliers and collaborators to ensure effective and swift resolution of technical issues. Effective Non-Conformance management and corrective action. Some UK and Overseas travel may be required. What’s in it for you? What are we looking for? Degree/HNC/HND level of qualifications or equivalent in an engineering discipline plus substantial level of experience of aerospace/defence or related industry Hands-on experience of manufacturing methods and processes Experience in working within a Concurrent Engineering environment Experience in monitoring manufacturing costs during development programs Proven leadership ability Communication skills; the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing Forward thinking and comfortable in working outside their area of specialisation Good negotiating and influencing skills Analytical and problem solving skills You will have a willing, helpful attitude and a calm professional manner, even when things are changed at the last minute.
